Spacemaster
From 1ste Gimnechiske Wiki
Rolemaster have several settings in space, I have not bothered to make difference between them, wether it is Privateer, Silent Death, or anything else is not of interest, what is going on is of more interest. My Space Master world is a mix of these, with my lo-tech worlds dumped in as places you might crash if your space ship is thrown off track.
The Galaxy Fantasia is a place where gods live, magic exists, and travellers have found the way to space. There are many worlds here, ranging from primitive stone age cultures to highly developed and technologically advanced civilizations. Some planets have strong magical forces while other planet have weaker forces. For some reason, the gods have chosen to re-use various races on different planets. It can seem like they thought well of several planets with human, elves, dwarves and such, though their cultural habits may be abit different, as well as which god is worshipped by them. Some of the space travelling civilizations have put up space stations, some function as trade posts, some as defensive stations, and some as research stations.
The galaxy is shaped like a ball, where there is a central core, with arms spiraling out in several directions. Some of the largest arms have smaller arms spiraling out, in such way you get a 3 dimensional grid of stars, and a similar grid of void. Systems closer to the core tend to have stronger magics than systems further out. The same with the rotation direction of the arms, system on the forward part of the arm have stronger magics than the systems following behind. The gods have also seem to meddle more with the worlds closer to the core than the outer worlds.
In the central core is a strange world of crystals. This is the home of the gods, and forces here will act on a space craft or a traveller similar as a black hole. The space craft or the traveller will be torn into single atoms, and added on the crystals. Only gods and spirits can live here.
To avoid misunderstandings, information here is based upon standard units. System location is given with three co-ordinates, along X, Y and Z axis. The core is located on 0,0,0 so locations might have both positive and negative location co-ordinates. The scale is based on jump lengths, see the page for standard units to see more about jumps.
Travel
The normal way of travelling between locations is by interstellar space crafts. Various governments throughout the galaxy are maintaining interstellar atlases where safe routes are described. Distances on these maps are often given in jumps between the various interstellar intersections, or from these intersections to nearby planets. It is possible to travel outside these routes, but than without meteorite warnings and patroling, so the GM should determine the chances for attacks by un-explored species, space pirates, enemy fractions, or colliding with objects.
It is also possible to travel through worm holes, this is described in a separate chapter.
Planets of interest
- Destruida: home world for the Cyberspace setting.
- Ea: home world for Middle Earth
- Earth: You thought Earth lies in the Milky Way? You're totally wrong. This is Earth as we know it, or is it?
- Escher: A strange planet, shaped slightly like a 4 sided dice. It holds 4 different worlds, one with mythical Europe (Mythical Egypt, Mythical Greece, Arabian Nights, Vikings, Robin Hood), one side with Outlaws of the mid-west, Pirats of Caribbean and noble Dualists (At Rapier's Point), one side is an icy desert, and the last side is a world somewhat like the paradise islands of the Paciffic Oceans.
- Kulthea: home world in the Shadow World setting.
- Muito Grande: a world I have constructed in my head when I started to plan Space Master campaigns. A good world to visit for your exploring campaigns, or you can put a full scale fantasy campaign here.
- Parodia: A parody of Earth made for Black Ops!
- Superior Hero: Home world for Pulp Adventures.
Important Stations
- Restaurant at the End of the Universe
